After a long absence from the game, the MoneyMan made a winning return to the betting world, in backing the Boks against Australia.
Hey folks, I know its been a while, and I really do appreciate the messages of concern. But I’m back, and thrilled to be gearing up for the Rugby World Cup at the end of the year,
This past weekend marked the first bet I’ve put down in months, and gladly it was a winning one. Despite fielding a team mixed with experience and new talent, I felt the Boks were slightly underestimated by the bookies. For starters, the narrative that this was a Springbok “B-Team” was naive, there was very clearly a method to the individuals and combinations selected.
Secondly – as I wrote in my preview – the Boks, prior to Saturday’s match, had a perfect 8-0 record against Australia at Loftus with an average of 26.25 points for and 13.12 against.
I predicted a final score of 40-25 to the Boks, a significantly bigger difference than the -7.5 on offer at the time. So I happily took the Springboks to win by 8. I’ve always said, when you feel strongly about a score or outcome, and your prediction differs greatly from the bookies, trust your gut and take the bet. In this case, it was a gut feel combined with just some common sense and a little look into the history of the two teams at Loftus. 43-12 to the Boks in the end, so not far off!
I don’t think it will be that straightforward this weekend against the All Blacks, but I look forward to it nonetheless!
In other exciting news, we’ve recently launched our new sports predictor website, called PredictSports. It works with a simple format of making picks based on the outcomes on offer, and then seeing how many calls you get right.
