Bok failure and fine margins. A disappointing weekend as a fan first, and then a bettor.
I love South Africa, I love the Springboks, but they were never going to beat France this past Saturday.
The Springboks had not last to France in a decade prior to the game, but if there was ever a French side primed to take the Boks, it was this side, this year. I tipped on my Facebook page that I expected the Springboks to get beaten comfortably, and that I had to take the 1.88 on offer for France to win by 5 or more. I said it was a bet I would be happy to lose.
I should have clarified a bit better!
I would have been happy to lose it, had the Springboks won. Not quite the case… 30-26 final score. The Boks still lose, as does my bet – by one point.
Any punter will know that this is the worst feeling, to lose a bet made against a team you love, and they still don’t win!
How fine the margins are, but such is the nature of the game.
I didn’t tip anything on Premier League this weekend, but Ollie and myself came away with 4/10 and 5/10 respectively for our weekly predictions. Tough one considering the World Cup is about to start, and many players are already on the plane to Qatar mentally.
Not much to report from an otherwise quiet weekend, but seriously looking forward to making some wagers on the Soccer World Cup, which kicks off this Sunday!
