Well folks, my boldest prediction of the weekend came through in the most spectacular way on Sunday evening. Liverpool to beat Manchester City.
During our Premier League weekend preview show, Ollie and I couldn’t seem to agree on much regarding the results. One of the differences of opinion was the Liverpool v City game.

Ollie said despite hoping that his team would pull something out the box, the likely result would be City running away with it as Liverpool’s midfield got taken apart. Tough to argue that point given Liverpool’s recent form and City’s absolute clinical domination. But, you can never discount a derby, and you can never discount a team or manager’s record against a side. For the last five years, Klopp and his men have been the only team to consistently push Man City and take points from them, and I just had a feeling that at Anfield, with everything to prove, Liverpool would pull off the unexpected.
They did indeed, with Van Djik putting in the performance of his year so far and leading an effort that was vintage Liverpool. None other than Mo Salah would be the one to sink City with a goal, and it was pertinent that those two made an impact and a statement, given their struggle for form this year. The cliche stands; form is temporary, class is forever.
It was a quiet weekend for me betting-wise. I did put down a seven-leg Hail Mary acca. It didn’t come off, but that’s why we call it a Hail Mary. When one eventually does, it will make up for any losses incurred over the season.
Arsenal go four points clear after beating my beloved Leeds 1-0, and just for one weekend the Premier League gets a break from the Man City monopoly, and some hope that a future exists where money doesn’t buy you trophies. A stretch of the imagination, but Arsenal and Liverpool allow us to indulge for a day.
The games are coming thick and fast, with the next round kicking off tomorrow. Keep an eye on my Facebook page for tips.
