The Euro 2020 semi-finals have quickly arrived, and not without upsets along the way. Spain play Italy and England face Denmark in the last two matches before the final.
Not one of Portugal, Germany or France were able to see it through to the semi finals, while many expected one of the three sides from the “pool of death” to emerge Euro champions. Other favoured contenders, Belgium, were stopped by Italy in their quarter final clash.
England, have progressed convincingly after starting indifferently, seeing off Germany 2-0 in the Round of 16 and knocking four goals past Ukraine to cruise into the semi-finals. Their semi-final is against Denmark, who lost their first two matches but still managed to make it through the initial knockout stages. Gareth Southgate’s men are heavily favoured though, with an outright win over 90 minutes sitting at 1.70 on Betway, while Denmark offer 5.28.
The other semi-final sees an Italian side unbeaten in 32 matches and on a 13 match winning streak, face a Spanish side that after scoring only one goal in their first two group matches, scored 10 in two games before beating Switzerland in penalties to secure their semi finals spot. The odds are slightly more evenly stacked here, with Italy at 2.43 and Spain at 3.04, though many expect the Italians to continue their stellar form.
The game’s take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9pm (JHB time).
