With only a couple of Group Stage games left, the odds on favourite to win the Euros stand pretty evenly stacked among the top nations. Oliver Keohane takes a look at the odds on offer for the six favourite sides.
Top 6 favourites:
France: 4.65
Despite drawing to Hungary in their group match, France’s star-studded squad remain top of Group F, with a game in hand and are still favourites to claim the title of European Championship winner, at odds of 4.65. These odds are significantly lower than next favourites, Italy.
Italy: 6.90
The dark horses of the Euros pre the tournament, Italy have continued their outstanding form from the last year, scoring seven goals and keep a clean sheet in every match during their three group wins. Top of group A, they sit at second most favoured to take home the trophy, with nearly a 7/1 return on investment.
Germany: 7.00
Germany sit closely behind Italy, and after a comfortable 4-2 finish over group rivals and 2016 Euro champions, Portugal, confidence will be high among punters backing the Germans.
Belgium: 7.70
Belgium have been brilliant thus far, scoring seven goals and conceding only once, to win all three of their group matches and finish top of their table. Striker Romelu Lukaku has made good internationally on his Serie A form for Inter Milan, and as 4th favourites to win Belgium could offer some serious value.
England: 8.40
While England drew to Scotland in a lacklustre performance, and Gareth Southgate has made some questionable selections and decisions over the group stage so far, the men in white have still managed to finish top of their table and squeeze in as fifth placed favourites to win the tournament.
Spain: 10.20
Spain has failed to inspire in their two matches so far, drawing both games and scoring only one goal. With a game in hand agaisnt Slovakia, they still manage to sit as sixth favourites for an outright tournament win, but with far greater odds of 10.90.
