In October’s issue of Soccerclub Magazine, I wrote a short piece on the benefits of the new “Build-a-Bet” functions that many sites are introducing.
Build-a-bets are breaking new ground in the betting world. For years, betting profitability has been been hindered by the potential penalisation of “similar bets”, but this new function allows for one to bypass this risk and secure a greater gain.
“Similar bets” are separate outcomes bet on the same match, that would likely have an impact on each other during the match and are therefore voided when one tries to place them as different bets. Take the opening match between Liverpool and Leeds. Had you wanted to bet that Liverpool were to win, score over 2.5 goals and Mo Sallah would be an anytime goal scorer, betting sites may not allow you to place more than one of those selections.
In comes the Build-a-Bet, allowing you to essentially place an accumulator on various outcomes within the same event. The more outcomes combined, the higher the return on your stake.
This is a fantastic feature for someone who knows their sports. I say this, because in order to successfully punt a Build-a-Bet, one has to have a fair idea of how a game will play out – where it will ebb and where it will flow. Let’s revert back to Liverpool v Leeds. If you had predicted a high scoring, free-flowing game which Liverpool would ultimately pip, then there was money to be made on various combinations: over/under goals, outright winner, anytime goal scorer and so on. As mentioned, the more combinations included, the higher your return.
So while there may not always be value on a favoured team to win outright, or a straight over/under market on corners or goals, analysing how a game may play out and then combining various outcomes in a Build-a-Bet can see you make healthy returns.
Happy betting always folks,
